RECALIBRATE YOUR SENSE OF THE POSSIBLE
Dear Friend:
A few days after the landslide election of Barack Obama as the first African-American President of the United States, a phrase in an article in the Seattle Times caught my eye. A columnist was reflecting on the magnitude of what this election meant, and on the new era it was ushering in.
He closed his column with these words: "What this election tells us is that the nation has changed in ways that would have been unthinkable,unimaginable, flat out preposterous, just 40 years ago. And that we, black, white and otherwise, better RECALIBRATE OUR SENSE OF THE POSSIBLE.
These words have been reverberating throughout my heart and spirit since then, and more importantly, I am allowing them to PENETRATE my heart and spirit. It is NOT business as usual. It is a NEW DAY.
As of November 4, 2008, at 11:00pm EST we officially moved into a NEW ERA.
Oh yes, we must RECALIBRATE OUR SENSE OF THE POSSIBLE. To recalibrate means to "re-adjust precisely." Oh yes, we must be very CLEAR and very PRECISE about what this NEW ERA calls for.
If we weren't sure that the OLD ORDER was over, done, ka-put, finished, expired, played out, and had run its course, then all doubts were laid to rest as shouts of victory, triumph and even relief were heard around the world - literally - when Barack Obama's victory was sealed.
For me, he represents more than a personality. He represents an 'idea whose time has come.' And he is the embodiment of so much of what needs to be brought forth within ourselves, and also collectively, as a nation and as a global community.
We are now in a NEW ERA where each of us must acknowledge and recognize our personal power and our responsibility for helping to 'turn this world around. ' And even re-inventing the world as we've known it.
And it starts with you and I first turning ourselves around.
We are in an era where playing small, pointing the finger, blaming it on 'him/her/them,' seeing the other as separate, seeing different as bad, being unfulfilled, being selfish with our gifts and talents, pretending like 'we don't have what it takes,' or avoiding love/loving for fear of being hurt, is no longer in vogue.
We are in an era where we MUST upgrade our thinking, extend forgiveness to one another, forgive ourselves, start to care more and argue less, love more and judge less, and recognize that we are to be caretakers of the Earth, not rapists or exploiters.
We are in an era where complaining and criticizing is NOT okay, where remaining on the 'sidelines, and not contributing to the creation of new ideas, ' or not volunteering to be part of the solution, is NOT okay.
So what needs to CHANGE/SHIFT/ADJUST in YOUR life? In YOUR behavior? In YOUR relationships? In YOUR finances? In YOUR heart and spirit?
What does NEW DAY mean for YOU?
It is one thing to say "It's a New Day," as an inspirational slogan, and it is wholly another to sit yourself down to do some deep contemplation about what it means for you and to you?
NEW DAY and NEW ERA means NEXT LEVEL.......Next-Level Leadership, Next-Level Loving, Next-Level Results, Next-Level Thinking........It's time to take it to the Next Level.
So how is your personal 'program' going to change?
What beliefs do I need to abandon that are obsolete?........ " I can't because....."
What behaviors do I need to abandon that do not serve me or move me toward fulfillment of my life mission?
What relationships and associations do I need to adjust or release?
What excuses do I need to exile?
Do I need to make a renewed commitment to keeping my word, to myself and to others?
Do I need to grow my spirit? My gratitude? My appreciation? My business? My bank account?
Do I need to read more and watch TV less? Dialogue more and sit in front of the computer less?
Do I need to close my mouth and open my ears, and my heart?
What health-supporting habits do I need to start?
What health-defeating habits do I need to stop?
Do I need to spend more time cultivating and cleansing my spirit through prayer and meditation?
As it shares in one of my favorite books, 'Conversations with God: The New Revelations,' ......"one person can make a huge difference, for it is always one person within a group or cluster who calls forth the highest vision, who models the grandest truth, who inspires and cajoles and agitates and awakens. Are you that one person? This is the question your soul asks you now."
Yes, indeed, this is the question each of our souls is asking us now.
And our souls need us to say YES, without hesitation, with passion and audacity, with certainty and vigor, with focus and unstoppable intention, and with L-O-V-E.
In Conversations with God, it goes on to say 'Build, therefore, a bridge. BECOME that bridge. Walk the path of a New Revelation. Do not merely speak of this revelation, but demonstrate the truth of it with your life, lived. Show the way. Be a bringer of the light."
I invite you, as I've invited myself, to draw a line in the sand in your life. Decide that it is not going to be business as usual. Get very clear about what the un-usual is going to be for you now, in your life, your heart, your spirit, your choices, your business, your relationships, your marriage, your career, your beliefs and your behaviors.
Oh yes, it is time to RECALIBRATE OUR SENSE OF THE POSSIBLE!

God heaps on you all the joy you can stand, but we keep giving God an itsy-bitsy cup to fill. So if you want more but aren't experiencing and receiving more, it's YOU limiting YOU, not God limiting you.
We often don't have enough room or space in our lives for the joy and the blessings to come in. You have to make space so joy has a place.
Joy becomes more and more real in your life as you free up your energy.
When we are constantly in situations in which we feed others’ energy but are not fed in return, its time to make some serious shifts in how we manage our energy.
Being bold, bodacious and succulent (BBS) means believing you are enough, you have enough, you do enough.
When you integrate renewal into your life, you move out that which isn't bringing you joy to make room for the relationships and experiences that do. You withdraw and shift your energy from what does not bring you joy and reinvest it in what does.
