PREPARING YOUR PROSPERITY BASKET FOR HARVEST
I believe that, just as we have the natural seasons of winter, spring, summer and fall, there are also spiritual seasons. The "theme" for the spiritual season in which we're in now is PROSPERITY. Not just wealth-building in the monetary sense, but abundance and plentitude in EVERY area of our lives -- friendships; love relationships; church and community; opportunities, resources and contacts; work, living and physical spaces; business and entrepreneurship; career; family; health; money and finances; and play and recreation. It is now the season of THRIVING, not just surviving. And as Clarissa Pinkola Estes
boldly proclaims in her book, Women Who Run With the Wolves, "Thriving is what was meant for us on this earth. Thriving, not just surviving, is our birthright as women."
But in order to experience prosperity, we have to be prepared. And if we aren't prepared, then we have to GET prepared. So how do you know if you are ready yet, or not? Well, imagine that you are holding a huge personal Prosperity Basket in your arms, and you are ready to have it start filling up and overflowing with the "FRUIT" of prosperity. To work with the spiritual laws that support prosperity that are available to us all (if we know how to tap into and flow WITH them), we first need to be sure that our basket is truly READY to receive.
Question: What are some of the things that can prevent us from receiving and experiencing prosperity? Answer: A Prosperity Basket filled with junk, clutter and garbage that has no ROOM for receiving prosperity. Junk, clutter and garbage can take the form of overhanging debt; long-standing "stale" debt; too much clutter, too many piles of mail and paper, or old, broken and abandoned stuff in your living and/or work spaces. Junk, clutter and garbage in your Prosperity Basket can also take the form of incessant busy-ness, perpetual activity, or constant rippin' and runnin' in your life. Junk, clutter and garbage in our relationships can be allowing "energy-vampires" to use, abuse or dishonor our time and energy, or continuing to allow others to sit in the "front seat" in our lives, getting our prime, energy and attention, yet they are ungrateful or don't reciprocate.
And last, but not least, this junk, clutter and garbage also takes the form of beliefs, belief systems, and deeply ingrained thoughts and ways of thinking about money and prosperity that are "cutting us off at the knees" and thwarting our efforts to prosper. To start cleaning and clearing out this junk, clutter, and garbage requires that we dig up and excavate the layers of scarity thinking and struggle mentality that are creating an impenetrable force field of beliefs that keep us in survival, and keep us chasing after prosperity instead of experiencing it.
As I pause to reflect on beliefs I've absorbed and inherited around money and prosperity that I've had to clean out, these come to mind: "Money is the root of all evil"..It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven...Money doesn't grow on trees"..and so on." Take a few minutes to do a "brain dump," and write down all of the phrases, statements, comments, and beliefs about money and prosperity that you may be "holding." When these are filling our basket, they are displacing what we really want and desire, and keep prosperity from flowing to us.
So what are some of the "prosperity-generating" habits we can begin to adopt right here and right now? For one, we can start to employ the use of affirmations -- present tense, action "I" statements that state a desired reality -- in our lives. Some of the prosperity affirmations that I use are "I stand under a spout where good things pour out; Prosperity is my divine birthright; I am a money magnet; I experience joy, beauty, balance, peace, and prosperity in my world; I pay my bills with a grateful heart; and God is the source of my unending supply, to name a few. I've written these prosperity affirmations on
note cards and have them posted around my office and in my bedroom. Secondly, we can start to do what prosperous people do, and begin to copy cat some of their positive habits. Here are some prosperity habits to get you started, if you don't practice them already:
1) Double-checking your receipts for accuracy
2) Tracking daily spending so that every penny is accounted for (this is not out of greed and control, but recognizing that every dollar is energy and being aware of where and on what "money energy" is going.)
3) Frequently balancing your checkbook(s)
4) Saving 10% of money earned
5) Having a consistent and disciplined system for investing money
6) Having multiple streams of income
7) Tithing both money and time
So TODAY, commit to begin cleaning out and clearing out your PROSPERITY BASKET. Begin to make way for the blessings and the prosperity that is waiting to pour forth into your basket. Know that you are worthy, know that you are deserving.
Prosperously Yours,
